Thomas Gray
Thomas Gray (1716-71), British poet who led a quiet scholarly life, mainly at Cambridge. He is known chiefly for his Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard (1751). Twenty years later he was buried in the country churchyard of the poem, at Stoke Poges in Buckinghamshire.
