Brigitte Bardot
Brigitte Bardot , stage name of Camille Javal (1933- ). French film actress. A former model, she began her film career in 1954. And God Created Woman (1956), directed by her then husband, Roger Vadim, made her a star. Her sex appeal was highly publicized and exploited in subsequent films, which include The Truth (1961), Contempt (1964), and Viva Maria (1965). Since re-tiring from the cinema in 1973 she has devoted her time to campaigning for animal rights.
