James Matthew Barrie
James Matthew Barrie (1860-1937). Scottish dramatist and novelist. He is best known for the children’s fairy-tale play Peter Pan (1904), which developed from a series of stories told to the sons of a friend. His other theatrical successes include Quality Street (1901) and The Admirable Crichton (1902). Barrie was knighted in 1913.
