The Qutub Minar
Delhi is an ancient city. It is said it was constructed by Pandavas about 1000 years BC. After that Yadays ruled here. The Aryans, Mughals and Britishers have constructed various marvelous building during their rule. Delhi is an historical city. It has been the capital of many kings and emperors. There are many historical buildings in Delhi.
The Qutub Minar is an old historical building. It is said that it was started by last Hindu Ruler Prithvi Raj Chauhan and completed by Qutubuddin Aibak. It was built in 13th Century. It is the highest tower in India. The Qutub Minar is an important monument. It is situated near Mehrauli. It had seven storeys. Two of them have fallen down. At present there are five storeys. Now it has 378 steps to climb up. The people go to see it and climb up. They can see the view of Delhi from it.
The people come to see this wonderful masterpiece of Art and history from around the globe. Everything on earth looks very small when we see from its top. The people praise it for its height and art. The Ashoka iron pillar near the Qutub Minar attracts the people. The foreigners also come to see it from many distant countries. We are proud of our old historical monuments.
At present public is allowed to climb up to first floor.
