Be careful when using double-negative construction.

Double-negative construction means using two negative-meaning words in the same sentence. In some cases, two negatives cancel each other out and make the sentence mean exactly the opposite of what you meant to say:

I don’t want nothing right now actually means I want something right now.

The chickens didn’t eat none of that corn actually means The chickens ate some of that corn.

This topic is especially tricky because some double negatives are not wrong. For example, the following perfectly correct sentence contains two negatives:

I wouldn’t go if Lori weren’t going to be there.
