Why are there only cough syrups and not cough tablets?

For systemic irritations, medication should be available which get quickly absorbed into the blood.
Both these things are possible better with liquids. Solids like tablets 0 take time to get absorbed after swallowing. That is why cough syrups are used for the treatment of cough.
