Why did the Egyptians mummify the dead bodies?
The Egyptians strongly believed in life after death. To help the dead person make the journey from one life to the next, they performed certain rituals and the bodies were mummified. The process involved cut-ting out the vital organs, spreading oil on it and wrapping body in line bandages. It was then laid in a coffin or mummy case, along with many of his belongings to ensure a comfortable continued life of the dead person.
