Article on ‘Importance of Outdoor Games’
– By Ramita
All work and no play make Jack a dull boy is an absolute proverb with true meaning. But play now-a-day, has actually lost its meaning. Earlier children used to come out of their houses in the evening and played and enjoyed a variety of games like hide and seek, dog in the bone, etc. But those games have lost their importance in today’s context. Children are either busy with their studies or are engaged in computers or television. They love playing games on the computer and enjoy watching T.V. instead of moving out of their houses for outdoor games. This is indeed resulting in their lack of social development and physical too. Children are becoming physically inactive due to a lack of physical activities and outdoor games. Also, the violence and foreign culture is shown on T.V. and the internet is adversely affecting them. Thus the need of the hour is to encourage them to move out and indulge themselves in the outdoor games so that they can grow up to be better, healthy, and wise individuals.
