The concept of sustainable development provides a framework for the integration of environmental policies and development strategies. Sustainable development seeks to meet the needs and aspirations of the present without compromising the ability to meet those in the future.
In other words, sustainable development is a process of change in which the exploitation of resources, the direction of investments, the orientation of technological development and institutional change are all in harmony and enhance both current and future potential to meet human needs and aspirations.
Sustainable development does imply limits imposed by the present state of technology and social organization on environment resources. Humanity has ability to make development sustainable.
