Pieter Bruegel
Pieter Bruegel (525-69), Flemish painter. He is particularly well known for his lively and detailed paintings of peasant life, peopled with tiny active figures, such as Months (1565). A vein of satirical humour is present in many of his works. His two sons, Pieter the Younger and Jan, were also painters.
