Luis Bunuel
Luis Bunuel (1900-83), Spanish film director. He worked in France in the 1920s and there collaborated with the surrealist painter Salvador Dali on Un Chien andalou (1928). Surrealism, anticlericalism, and an irreverent attitude towards conventional morality characterize his films, which include Viridiana (1961), Belle de jour (1966), The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeosie (1972), and That Obscure Object of Desire (1977).
