Caligula

Caligula (12-41.AD), Roman emperor. The son of Gerinanicus Caesar and Agrippina the Elder, he succeeded the emperor Tiberius in 37. Although initially popular, he soon became hated for his extravagant, capricious, and tyrannical behaviour. He had many of his relatives executed or murdered, and is alleged to have expressed the wish that the Roman people had a single neck, so that he could sever it at a blow. He was assassinated.
