Ganga Bai
Ganga Bai, 1777. Mahratha princess, wife of Peshwa Narayanrao. She was known to be a few months prognant when her husband was murdered in August 1773 in a palace coup in Pune. She gave birth to a son, Madhavrao Narayan, on 18 April 1774. Her son was proclaimed the Peshwa on 28 May 1774 under the regency of Nana Phadnis and the usurper, Raghunath Rao fled to British protection to Bombay, which led to the British interference in Mahratha affairs.
