Haram Beg Am

Haram Beg Am, 1549-1566, Mughal princess. She was the wife of Humayun’s cousin, Sulaiman Mirza of Badakshan and enjoyed the title of Wali-Niamat (`Lady of Beneficence’). She helped Humayun in his expedition to Balkh in 1549. In 1551 she left Badakshan because of an allegation against her character and came to Kabul, though she was ultimately reconciled with her husband and her son, Mirza Ibrahhim. On her advice, her husband tried to seize Kabul, but could not succeed. In 1556, she persuaded her husband to make yet another attempt to seize Kabul, and herself devised a secret plan which leaked out. She was a very ambitious lady and wielded enormous influence over her husband who even allowed her the right to inflict punishment.
