Khanzada Begum

Khanzada Begum, 1478-1545, Mughul princess, eldest sister of Emperor Babar. Daughter of Umar Shaikh Mirza and Qutluq Nigar, she was a full sister of Babar and elder to him by five years. She did not lead a very happy life, and was married three times. The third husband Madi Mohammad joined Babar in 1519. She was raised to the status of the principal lady by Humayun after the death of Mahim Begum, the widow of Babar, in 1532-33 and was given the title of Padshalt Began? Her advice was much sought by Humayun, and she was sent by him to Qandhar in 1541 to intercede between his two brothers, Hindal and Kamran who had rebelled against him, but the mission failed. In 1545 when Qandhar was retaken by Humayun she pleaded for a mild treatment for the two rebels, which was rejected by Humayun She died at the age of 67 at Qabal Chak, in Afghanistan.
