Mayanalla Devi
Mayanalla Devi, 1094, queen-mother of Gujarat. Daughter of Jayakisan, the Kadamba ruler of Goa, she was married to the Chalukyan, Karna, who ruled Gujarat from 1064 to 1094. After the death of her husband, she acted as the regent to her minor son Jayasimha, who became one of the greatest kings of his dynasty. She built two lakes, one near Viramgam, and the other at Dholka, neat Baroda, which still exist.
