St John the Apostle

St John the Apostle, (fl. 1st century AD). One of the 12 Apostles of Jesus Christ. He and his brother James, sons of a fisherman, were among Christ’s first disciples and John became an authoritative figure in the early church. According to legend he was martyred and buried at Ephesus. Tradition identifies him as the author of three New Testament epistles, the fourth gospel, and the Book of Revelations.
