Reginald Joseph Mitchell

Reginald Joseph Mitchell, (1895-1937). British aircraft designer. He joined the Supermarine Aviation Company in 1916 and became chief engineer in 1920. He designed many aircraft, including flying boats and racing planes, but is best remembered for the Spitfire, which played an important role in World War II, particularly in the Battle of Britain.
