You were on the MRT train. All of a sudden, there was a blackout.
Finally, after a ten-minute walk to the MRT station in the hot and humid weather, I reached the station control. I tapped my card on the reader and then proceeded to the platform to wait for the train.
When the train arrived, I got on the train and found a seat. Soon, the train entered the long stretch of tunnel. I was listening to music from my MP3 player.
All of a sudden, there was a blackout. The entire train was engulfed in darkness. Screams and wails could be heard. I was frightened but remembered that I had my mobile phone which had a torch light function. I took out my phone and switched on the light. I looked around, many people looked shocked.
I wondered what had happened. Then, a voice came over the announcement system. The train master announced that there was an electrical fault and they were trying to restore the light and air conditioner. I was beginning to feel warm and there were more complaints among the commuters. A distance away, I could hear a baby wailing away.
Just then, the lights flickered on and the rumbling sound of the air-conditioner was heard. Everything sprang back to life and soon the train was on its way. I was glad that everything was fine. A few stops later, I alighted. I could not wait to share with my parents what had happened.
