Discipline and its value
Discipline is a mental and moral training which brings the senses under one’s control. It is the most indispensable quality of human life. This greatest law of nature is not only a symbol of civilization but also the backbone of character. The literary meaning of discipline is learning a Code of Conduct. It is a training that teaches obedience, orderliness and cooperation. Discipline plays an important role in nature, school, office, factory, family and military. Discipline is not contrary to freedom. It is only against the law of the jungle. Discipline stands for regulated behaviour. At the social and national level, discipline means mutual help and co-operation under a firm code of rules. Nature is perfectly disciplined. The earth revolves round the Sun. The Sun rises in the East and sets in the West. It shows that nature adheres to a definite code of rule. A man of discipline is honoured everywhere. To call somebody indisciplined, is nothing short of an abuse. Men of discipline alone are men of character.
