Chandravati

Chandravati,  early 18th cent., Vaishnava poet of Bengal. Only daughter of the poet and singer, Bansidas of Mymensing, she inherited much of her literary gifts from her father. Only fragments of her works, including a poem about the story of Rama, now exist. According to popular tradition she loved Jayanand, whom she knew from childhood, but as he had been rescued by a Muslim family, he was declared an outcaste, and the marriage could not take place.
