Kalpana Datta
Kalpana Datta, 1914- , freedom-fighter. Originally named Kalpana Dutt, she was the daughter of Shobhana Devi and Binodbehari Dutt of Bengal. She became involved in revolutionary movement since her college days in 1930, and participated in the famous Chittagong Armoury Raid in 1933, for which she was sentenced to life imprisonment. On her release, she joined the Communist Party in 1942, and in 1943 married the communist leader, P.C. Joshi.
