Aesop
Aesop (6th century BC), according to tradition, the Greek author of a number of fables about animals. Aesop is said to have been a slave living on the island of Samos but may have been a legendary figure. Although his name and reputation were known in the 5th century BC, the earliest existing collection of Aesop’s fables dates from about 100 AD.
