Che Guevara
Che Guevara real name Ernesto Guevara (1928-67). Argentinian revolutionary. A qualified doctor, he left Argentina in 1953 because of his opposition to the dictator Person. He became a communist after seeing the poverty in many South American countries and fought under Fidel Castro in the Cuban Revolution (1956-59). Although he became a government minister there, he later disappeared to resume his guerrilla activities. He was eventually captured and shot by the army in Bolivia while training a guerrilla group there. His dedication and death made him a hero among young Western revolutionaries in the late 1960’s and 1970’s.
