Donald Campbell

Donald Campbell (1921-67), British world speed record breaker. Having broken the world land and water speed records in a car and a boat that were both called Bluebird, he was killed in an attempt to raise his water speed record of 442.08 km per hour (276.3 mph) On Coniston Water. His father, Sir Malcolm Campbell (1885-1949), was also a speed enthusiast. He broke the world land speed record nine times (which was itself a record) between 1924 and 1935 and the world water speed record in 1939.
