Henry Fonda
Henry Fonda (1905-82), US film actor best known for his many roles as an honest and soft-spoken hero. His films include several for the director John Ford, notably The Grapes of Wrath (1940) and My Darling Clementine (1946). His other films include the courtroom drama Twelve Angry Men (1957), Madigan (1968), and On Golden Pond (1981), which earned him his only Oscar. His daughter Jane (1937) is also an actress. Her films include Cat Ballou (1965), Barbarella (1968). Klute (1971), for which she won an Oscar, Julia (1977), and Old Gringo (1989). An outspoken supporter of leftwing causes in the late 1960s and 1970s, she later became better known for her exercise books and videos.
