Henry Ford
Henry Ford (1863-1947), US motor-car manufacturer. Ford was the first industrialist to make cars for the mass market. A mechanic by training, he set up the Ford Motor Company in 1903. From 1909 to 1927 the famous Model T Ford was sold all over the world and factories were established in many other countries. In 1940 Ford built a large bomber aircraft factory at Willow Run. His empire continued to grow and he was succeeded as president of the company by his son and grandson.
