Where did the Allosaurus exist?
Allosaurus was one of the largest of the Jurassic carnosaurs. It was about 10 m long. Its fossilized remains have been found in North America in rocks of Late Jurassic age. This means that it lived at the same time as Camptosaurus and Stegosaurus and it seems likely that it would have attacked all of these animals as it pleased. There is even some evidence that Allosaurus might have attacked to the joint Sauropod dinosaurus of this period such as Apatosaurus and Brachiosaurus.
As a meat-eating animal Allosaurus would have be terrifyingly efficient. It could not run very fast because it was so large and heavy weighing upto 3 tonnes, but that did not matter because the animals it fed on were even larger and heavier.
