Subject: Praising a stranger who changed a meat-eater to vegetarian.

Respected Sir,

Last week, someone handed me a booklet about vegetarianism. I do not know who was he, but I want to thank him.

Although I have never considered myself as an animal lover, I do consider myself a good person who tries to live by morals. I have always believed that we should not harm animals without a major reason. I never considered how animals raised for food were treated. This booklet made it all clear. Animals suffer to become meat. Eating animals is unnecessary. Therefore, eating meat causes needless suffering for animals. I realized that in order to live by my values, I needed to become a vegetarian. Therefore, I did.

Every year billions of land animals are raised for food in different countries. These animals live their entire lives in filthy and crowded conditions. They are denied of their natural instincts and their bodies are injured in ways that would be illegal. In the slaughterhouse, many are skinned and cut into pieces while still fully conscious and able to feel pain. Some are even burnt alive with very hot liquid or steam.

The stranger who gave me the booklet opened my eyes to the dreadful suffering of animals raised for food. I carried out the research over the Internet and found a lot of helpful information on switching to a vegetarian diet. I am thankful that this cruel treatment of animals is no longer being done in my name. I invite all of you to consider vegetarianism as well.

Yours sincerely,

Eric Roven
