You were taking an examination. Halfway through, you heard someone call you.
My alarm clock rang and I jumped out of bed. It was the year-end examination and I did not want to be late for school. I got changed and after having a slice of bread and a glass of milk, I made my way to school.
When I reached school, everyone was busy flipping pages after pages of their textbook, hoping to cram in as much as they could before the examination started. I spotted my best friend, lan, flipping through his notes furiously. As usual, he was a bundle of nerves. I approached him and told him to stay calm. He looked worried and told me that he could not remember whatever he had learnt the night before. Just then, the bell rang. We all lined up in twos and went back to class.
In the class, the invigilator distributed the examination scripts to all pupils. lan, who was sitting next to me, was wiping beads of perspiration from his forehead and his hands were shaking. Then the invigilator announced that we could start.
Everyone began scribbling furiously. Halfway through, I heard someone whispering my name. At first, I thought it was a part of my imagination. Then, I heard it again. I looked up and realised that it was lan. He was looking at me, with tears in his eyes. He pointed desperately at the examination script.
I took pity on him so I held up my paper to show him. So it went from one page to another. I totally forgot to keep a lookout for the invigilator. All of a sudden, a shadow fell on my desk. My heart skipped a beat as it dawned on me that it was no one but the invigilator! I looked up slowly and there she was, standing between our desks, with her arms akimbo.
I knew there was nothing to say. lan began to sob uncontrollably. Both of us were led out of the classroom and then to the principal’s office after the examinations were over. We were questioned and reprimanded. I knew there was no good reason for our act. Fortunately, due to our good records, our principal gave us one more chance. Our parents were informed and after that, we were sent back to class.
