Jacques Tati
Jacques Tati, original name Jacques Tatischeff (1908-82). French film actor and director. A former music-hall star, he later wrote, directed, and acted in several comic films based on visual jokes. His most famous creation is Monsieur Hulot, an eccentric character who has a disastrous way with even the simplest machines or gadgets. His films include Monsieur Hulot’s holiday (1952), Mon Oncle (1958), Traffic (1970), and Parade (1974). Taylor, Elizabeth (1932— ). US film actress, born in Britain.
