Johnny Weissmuller
Johnny Weissmuller, (1904-84). US swimmer and film actor. The son of Austrian immigrants, he won five gold medals for freestyle races in the 1924 and 1928 Olympic Games. Between 1932 and 1948 he played the character of Tarzan in 12 MGM films made from the stories by Edgar Rice Burroughs.
